Why we don’t like ourself on pictures

We only know our best side. Before we look into a reflecting window during our walk, we draw in our tummy and put our head to the best sunlight. When we see our reflection on the lake’s waterscape we tousle our hair to look as cool as possible.
Almost everytime we know when we’re going to see our reflection and use this advantage to emballish ourselves.
But the truth is: We don’t look half as good as we believe. And thanks to the devilish invention of the ‘everyone-digital-photography’ which produces the evidence. When friends are showing us the pictures we get startled of ourselves (“delete that immediately!”) and our friends look at us umsympathetically (“why? looks fine to me!”). Are they crazy? No, they aren’t.
We only know the brightened up figure from our bathroom mirror, but friends know our real face. Mostly they like pictures of ourselves much better than we because they are used to the reality. We’re not.
